toughest hike, ever. for me at least. with 4,500 elevation gain in only a few miles, this climb over volcanic boulders and ash took over 4 hours to complete. the day before, we had spent a good 2 miles spelunking, so we were already a bit beat up. but as we gained more and more elevation and passed the cloudline, john, jessica, jayson, pat, cheri, and i saw a view that more than made up for the toil, including a total of four visible volcanoes - ranier, hood, adams, and jefferson. for more photos, visit john's site at johnandkristie.com.
